Our job was relatively small (a single room, remove carpet, sand and polish) but Duane treated us respectfully, was a pleasure to deal with, and worked quickly and efficiently to accomodate our needs. Duane worked quickly to overcome an unforeseen hiccup in the job, while Greg, who completed the job was a great communicator, very punctual, and delivered exceptional results. I wanted my floors whitewashed but in a grey colour - all businesses that quoted explained that the red from matai would come through. I now realise that I should have been clearer as whitewash effect I was actually after is actually paint watered down. I didnt realise that 'blonding' just is 'like' (not actually sure what it is) a milky coloured polyurethane and layered to make more opaque. My… mistake as all trades that quoted went to pains of expalining the 'red' coming through - I thought it might be a pinky hue to the paint or whatever product that looked like whitewash. 100%"Being fussy about who I leave in our house and worrying about the potential quality of the work like most I am always a little nervous about selecting trades people. So, needing to re-sand and polish a very old matai and kauri floor and integrate some new areas such as a previously vinyl floored kitchen, I investigated and obtained quotes and input from a number of sanding and polishing companies before finally selecting Active Floor Sanding Services. Their quote wasn't the cheapest due to our… selection of a water based polyurethane but at less than 10% extra it was extremely competitive with the solvent options they and others also offered. The cost difference we well and truly recovered by being able to stay in the house while the work was being done.
And the outcome is nothing short of fantastic!
Craig and Alec who did the work were prompt, called me immediately if they found an issue they thought needed a decision, told us what was happening each day and delivered a quality outcome. And when we accidently scuffed the floor before it had fully cured they were back within half an hour of my call to repair it for me!
Really thought through input and advice, faultless service, quality tradesmen, competitive pricing and communication and service second to none!

We also weren\'t even sure if our type of flooring could even be sanded. Found Active Floorsanding Services on this site and decided to take the plunge and hope for the best!
Duane came out to see the floor very promptly and ran through the options. We chose the non toxic option and it was such a relief to be able to carry on living in the house while the floor… was being done. Paying for accommodation for our family of five plus kennel and cattery fees would have really added a lot to the overall cost.
Duane and his guys were friendly, efficient, on time and helpful and the floor looks amazing. We were warned that some of the cracks and dents would be still visible but honestly the floor looks near new. I am so happy to be able to recommend this company.

The finish is so much better that our neighbours oil based job done by someone else. The wood looks a natural colour and not like it’s covered in plastic. Heath did a great job, communication was spot on, he was here when he said he would be, and we found him to be trustworthy and respectful (really important when you let someone… in your home). I found Heath by chance and before hiring him for the job, I asked a contact I had at a large city centre hotel about the work he did on their main restaurant floor and they were also very happy with the work. After learning about the damage solvent based/moisture cure polyurethanes can cause, we only supply and use non toxic waterborne polyurethanes and natural oils. Our aim is to supply our customers with top quality workmanship in the healthiest possible and we're very concerned about the health of the environment, and the people in it. The products we use are extremely durable and are the result of years of research and development by UFloor Systems in Germany and Handley Industries in New Zealand, world leaders in all aspects of waterborne polyurethanes and oils.
We sand ALL our jobs using the latest Danish vacuum system that attaches to the 2 sanding machines that was currently responsible for over 98% of the surface and floating dust.
We offer all our customers a 98% DUST-FREE job, with no need for after job cleaners, dust sheets and the normal head aches faced by customers after having their floors sanded.
With our water borne polyurethanes, natural oils and vacuum system ,we offer our customers a virtually smell free and dust free service. And hence hassle free!!! The sensible safe approach to floorsanding.
