    "Just thought that I should give some feedback on Advanced Computers as regarding the servicing and repair of digital camera’s. First off I have no ties with this company and it has been the first time I have used them. Basically my back up Nikon body: a D600 stopped working after a hefty knock while within its bag, so needed repairing and as Advanced Computers were close to where I live I thought I would give them a try; so this is how it went:
    I took the Camera in on Thursday and paid the $50 deposit, which acts as a payment for the initial teardown and quote (the $50 becomes part of your bill should you choose to go ahead and have the repair made). I received the quote on the Friday, which for reference the costs were, as per quote pasted below: Mainboard assembly unit faulty, replacement required, plus camera cleaning and maintenance required. $554 incl Gst -Inspection Cost break down: - Parts Main board $380 incl GST (In store) - Labour for camera repair service $164 incl GST Note: the initial inspection fee $50 will be taken off the final service fee, the balance will be $494 incl GST. I thought this quote to acceptable but unfortunately the camera wasn’t insured; so probably like everyone; it can be a real annoyance having to pay for something that could have been avoided and in this case one just had to accept it and move on. The camera was ready on the Wednesday the following week (4 working days in total) which I thought was a very good quick repair and the camera works perfectly once more. So in summation: Advanced Computers gave me what I was after: great service, price and an excellent repair, what more could you ask for? Friendly and helpful staff? Yep they have them too and his name is Lovish Bhardwaj, a great guy. Really happy with their service. The service was quick and efficient and they actually completed the job earlier than expected. They do charge a premium for an urgent job, but it was worth it for me.     "I took my laptop in on a Friday before a long weekend. I gave a description of the problem and what I had done to try to fix it myself, and explained that we would be going away in less than 2 weeks. The lovely lady on the desk said she would put a note on for the technicians so that if they were able, they might try to get it back for me in time. I didn't really hold out much hope that it would be, as 10 working days is usual for this sort of thing, and it was a long weekend. Imagine my surprise, and delight, to receive an email on the Sunday explaining what needed to be done to repair the laptop, and details of how to pay so that the work could be started as soon as possible. On the Wednesday I got an email to say it was ready for collection. What a delighted customer I was. Admittedly, it just needed a completely new hard drive, which I guess would be relatively straight forward, but even so, I think their service was excellent and would have absolutely no hesitation in using them again should I have a need."

    "I took a dslr camera in for sensor cleaning, several other companies in auckland advertise this service from $65 to $85. Advanced computers penrose was most convenient to me. I asked for an estimate and was told they would inspect the camera first and there is a $50 inspection fee.

    Two and a half days later I received a quote for $255...
    Looking more closely I saw this included $50 for same day service - ludicrious I feel since they had already had my camera so long and unethical to put it in the bill at all without first asking if I wanted this. I'd done some research in the interim. Cleaning is a relatively simple process if you have the correct equipment. The price is far too high. I called to discuss. Nancy met me and showed me a disassembled sensor - to do the cleaning I believe I required does not require disassembly. I took the lens off, raised the mirror and showed her - you just reach in a with a swab and clean that. After 'discussing with her technician' she did not try to explain the price difference and just said 'we have our methods' and that the camera would be very well cleaned. I cancelled the job and got half my 'inspection fee' back. I will not use this company again."

    "I went into the Penrose Branch yesterday as my laptop wouldn't allow me to log in. I spoke with a very helpful young woman whose name I think was Amanda. As my laptop was quite old and it seemed likely that the hard drive was in the early stages of packing up, she offered me an instant solution to enable me to access all my data files with a clever and inexpensive gadget rather than go through and expensive solution of putting a new hard drive and rebuilding of my old laptop. She was so knowledgeable and helpful and showed me how to use the gadget on the spot. This really was best due to age of the laptop and I'll be able to transfer all my files when I get a new one. I'm so grateful for her assistance and best solution for my situation."

    "I was informed that it would take up to 10 working days to complete this job. I was notified via email on the quote and authorised the company to go ahead with the fix on 13/01/16. Full payment of repairs was made on 10/02/16. During the time of repairs I had no communication of what was happening, whether my machine was waiting to be fixed (queued), if parts were found or when the job was in operation. Exactly 4 weeks of no communication once a small part of payment was made. I am aware that repairs can take time and I understand that I could've contacted them myself but at times I forgot about it and I guess I also believed that the job would get done and they would get hold of me as I trusted this company to fix my problem. This is not a complaint...perhaps a small suggestion to keep customers in the loop if a job is going to take longer than quoted. I wish to thank you for the service, my children were very happy to have their machine back which made me a happy parent. I would definitely recommend you to anyone I know. Thank you again."

    "Over the past month I have had problems with three electronic items
    1. A Sony Handycam with a focus problem
    2. A Canon Ixus camera that got wet
    3. A Sony Data projector with a focussing problem.
    I approached Advanced Computers Penrose about the Handycam and the projector and found the initial meeting informative and I was left with no doubts as to what the process would be from then on. They met the promised deadlines and the quality of the repairs was excellent.
    Due to my being in the area I took the camera to their Link shop and found the same degree of efficiency and service. Again I was kept well informed and time lines were kept. A treasured camera was retuned as new. At the completion of all the transactions I received a print out of all the discussions that taken place about the jobs. I can strongly recommend this company for any electronic repairs. Their receptionist and service staff are polite and go to great lengths to listen to your explanation of the fault then to ensure that the customer understands the processes and likely outcome

    "We purchased an iMac in 2010. It stopped backing up in Time Machine, although worked in other aspects and my son Paul who lives overseas said it mostly likely has bad blocks and to change the Hard Drive. Studied the way to do this when Paul strongly advised to take it to experts. Advanced Computers were very easy to deal with and we agreed on a day of delivery. They completed the job the same day and it now works perfectly and it is obvious to me that I was dealing with experts, having worked in the technical industry all my life. One instinctively knows what to look for!. The lady on the counter could not have been better to deal with and we would never consider any other company but Advanced Computers."

    "I had mistakenly dropped my Canon Digital Camera and the lens got stuck making it impossible to retract.

    I found Advanced Computers from Internet. The customer service staff was professional and courteous, advised me clearly on their repair procedures and time line. They did a great job fixing and cleaning it (it looks almost new) and the fee was reasonable (much cheaper than buying a similar class of camera).

    "My HP laptop needed a fan replacement. Not only did Advanced Computers provide a competitive price and a 3 month warranty, they were also very quick and have a great professional attitude.

    When you talk with them you'll know that these guys know their ****. Called up other places for quotes nobody else could provide a quote or turn-around time. All everyone else refuse to give me a repair price guideline. Not the case here. Emailed about 9am, got a reply at 10am same morning. Brought it in and they knew exactly what needed to be done. I had to bring my laptop back a second time as I didn't provide the Windows password for them to fully test it the first time. They called back about 3 hours later and told me it was fixed! No cost because it was under warranty. Unlike other places, these guys treat warranty repairs like new customers and get to work straight away! Same exceptional service. Highly recommended!"

    "Advanced dealt with the resurrection of my ailing “Outlook” email system .. to their credit, they remedied the “freezing” scenario which had developed,& incoming mail began to flow again
    .. BUT .. without reference to me, they removed copious mail I had retained in my “Inbox” much of which was important (property, IRD, financial correspondence).
    It was some time before I was aware of this desecration (in fact, “Advanced” had done further work on my PC in the interim). When the significance of my lost mail became apparent, I entered into an absurdly lengthy email exchange with “Advanced” the outcome of which was that they would investigate the recovery of my mail .. but at my expense. I quote from part of our email exchange: “I don’t believe I should be expected to pay to have my mail recovered, when it should never have been removed without my knowledge.” Their response : "Our service fee is from $50". .. they simply would not address culpability this from a Company whose website “repair” page proudly proclaims "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" .. I will seek an alternative company to (hopefully) recover my lost mail .. I am uncomfortably aware of the possibility that it may be irretrievable !

    "I spilled coffee on the keyboard of my 2 year old 15\" MacBook Pro. I dried the machine to the best of my ability and had it powered off for over 24 hours. The next day, my worst fears were realized when the machine would not power on.
    It was at this point that I went online found Advanced Computers. I called and was able to talk to one of their front line staff and tell him what I experienced. He was really great on the phone, and advised their efficient procedures, confirmed my MacBook Pro inspection only takes 48 hours as standard, and same day service available. I was able to bring the machine in their Penrose branch, used their priority service and pickup on next business day. I am using the machine right now to type this review, and I have to say that after the repair, the machine works great. I really appreciate the service, the price was super reasonable compare to replacement. Definitely recommend their Mac repair service, cost effective and efficient.
