They only made one appointment to see me where I pointed out all the key features - I was working full time and if they wanted to see me they needed to make an appointment - I just needed a call to know a day in advance.
What actually happened was that they got on with the job without regard for the damage they did in the process. Instead of accessing the site through the roadway made… for the purpose they actually knocked-down my house gate and fencing without even mentioning it to my wife who was at home and watching in horror, they destroyed the driveway delivering the bridge parts and a 16 ton digger and damaged our driveway trees very badly. They decided by themselves that they would simply remove a large number small of trees that were in their way by just knocking them over with the digger, despite as any reader will know this cannot be done without council consent making me liable as the property owner.
"They made a weak attempt to reinstate the house fence but left all the other damage saying "it was my responsibility to provide access" missing the point that they were not using the roadway provided. When they declared the job finished, they left the old bridge in the paddock despite their contract saying "remove from site" Their answer was that they removed it from where it was and left it in the paddock - that was it - about 10 tones of bent iron wood and earth in a pile next to my garden... and then asked for payment.
The Final straw was that on inspection they had not built the bridge in the right place. To make it easy for themselves the bridge was built "skewed to one side" rather than following the road. It now looks really stupid and it is impossible for a truck to get around the tight corner this has created, there is not enough clearance - the whole point of building the bridge was to be able to get a building truck across to build the sub-division - this is now not possible without major earthworks to remove a hill.
In summary, they worked in wet conditions and I congratulated them for their effort but the damage they did in the process and leaving the old bridge on site was unacceptable. In order to get them to process the compliance certificate I had to pay them in full and only made a tiny deduction for having someone else remove the old bridge.
I chose BridgeIT because they were the most expensive of the companies around and their marketing suggests they do a good job. My experience is that they are sloppy, destructive, arrogant and blamed the weather, the access, me not being on site (they never asked to come to a meeting) anything other than their own **** poor management.
I now have a very strong, properly compliant bridge which is in the wrong place and completely unusable for the purpose without huge further costs, a broken driveway and $75,000 lighter. Do not go anywhere near this company.
