"Fantastic service, the work required on my vehicle has been completed and for much less than was estimated, and I personally anticipated. Jiten issued a CoF for my vehicle back in March and in September identified some faults that needed fixing for a renewal of the CoF. There were mechanical repairs and also panel repairs. They made my vehicle available when it was required so I could run my business. As always, if you treat these people with respect and they will do the same by you. I certainly recommend them and will be going back again."

"The utter pits. Panel work that has now left me out of pocket, and staring down the barrel of small claims court to get so many OTHER parts of my car fixed. I was promised a new door. The shortcuts taken are beyond my comprehension. NEVER USE THIS SCHYSTERS!
Unfulfilled promises, dodgy repairs (repairs here is used VERY loosely).

    Just awful. "

I went there for my car brakes repair and the cost were not significant after few days brakes started making same problem then I took my car again to them. These useless people has taken five hours for service which I found was terrible and nothing was done.

    - Whe I went there the service was terrible and nothing was done on time

"I needed a warrant for my caravan a couple of days before christmas. I chose Cairns motors more or less randomly - my usual mechanic's workshop has impossible access for caravans. I dropped it off early and awaited their call later in the day. Around 5 I rang them and got the distinct impression that they'd forgotten. They said they would ring back. In the meantime I became slightly worried so looked up reviews and saw heaps of negative reviews about them on this site. Not hearing back I drove down to wait. I saw a couple of guys checking over the caravan. They didn't know I was there. They seemed to be giving the caravan a thorough going over - and seemed to be concerned about one wheel. Then I receive a call from them saying its all fine except one wheel needs it bearings adjusted. Someone else had already alerted me that this might be necessary, so I was fine with that.

Anyway - job done thoroughly and inexpensively. I feel compelled to write this review to counter some of the negative stuff about these guys. JItan and his guys were courteous and thorough.

"very unhappy. please listen people never go to him because he is just ripping off people unnecessarily. i got my WOF checked from him he told me 3 issues whereas i went down to brendon motors who is just 5 minutes away who did the job perfectly by repairing only 1 thing and they couldn't find any problem. Cairns motors is just rubbish and giving fake inspection reports to people in order to earn more money. I wouldn't recommend anyone for cairns motors. I have lodged a complaint in nzta as well regarding the same matter because i don't want people to lose their money like me. NEVER GO TO CAIRNS MOTORS"

"My experience with Cairns was about a year ago - and I didn't say anything at the time but very happy to warn people off these cowboys!

I took my car in for a standard WOF check, got a phone call back saying that it would cost me $800 to fix the exhaust and a light plus something to do with the CV joints so I agreed & told them to go ahead & do the work. Got a phone call to say it was ready & I picked it up at the end of the week & my ex came with me (who's pretty good with cars) he looked it over & questioned Cairns about the work they had done because from what he could see nothing had changed about the car...The owner admitted that they hadn't gotten round to the work yet!

So they were quite happy for me to have paid them and driven off thinking that they had done the work when in reality they hadn't even touched my car!

I took it to VTNZ who checked it & it sailed through its WOF without a hitch. Lesson = don't go to Cairns! They will make up work/problems with your car & then rip you off!

"Firstly my experience with this company was average. I got a GroupOn voucher for a WOF and service and went in before Christmas. They were good and adjusted things in their schedule to fit me in. However, I was told my clutch was going to fail ASAP and needed a replacement that would cost $800. I only got the warrent because the clutch was not part of the checks. I was, of course, concerned so had planned to go in and get it fixed.
In the meantime, my car then broke down, because the spark plugs were horrendous, the HT cables were broken and the vaccum hose was broken.

The garage that I broke down around the corner from, fixed my car and I asked about the clutch - the man there said there was no problem with it. Cars like mine often have sticky clutches that need a bit of new clutch fluid and CRC. Once this was done, my clutch feels like new. Grand total - $20.

My concerns with Cairns Motors are - How did they miss the three things that meant my car was revving too high and labouring to start, but recommended a very expensive, not needed job for a simple CRC fix. They are also VERY hard to communicate with.

It took the man at the other garage, that has a 98% rating on here, ten seconds under the hood to find the problems. He said they were obvious if you simply stopped and listened to the engine.

I won't be returning to Cairns.

"I took my car here for some work a few years back, and never got around to posting a review....

But after seeing pics of my car again recently and the damage that was done to it I thought I better finally do it. I will try to keep this long story as short as I can...

I took my beloved car to them for a small carburettor job. After many, many weeks of terrible communication I finally went to pick it up....

To my horror, the car was in an appalling state. It would barely even start, the wiring including the stereo and central locking had all been fried, the chrome bumper was bent, the front guard smashed in and the tow took ripped off.

After watching the 'mechanics' pulling out wires here and there obviously with no clue what they were doing, I told them I would just take the car away as is - to avoid any further damage.

After taking it to a reputable electrical engineer and mechanic to fix the damage and getting quotes on the bumper and panel I was left with a bill of around $2400.

After they refused to pay for this, and blamed all the damage on the car for being old, I was left with no choice but to take them to the disputes tribunal, which cost me money and a lot of time. However I did and win the full amount I claimed. To their credit, Cairns paid up.

What a nightmare....If this isn't enough of a warning to avoid this place nothing will be!

"I got a quickie / cheap coupon on Grabone for this place. It was $60 for a service and WOF. Initially it started off OK, but then after getting the car back the WOF was sloppy. According to the owner of this shoddy shop, my car's rear left brake lights were "N F" non-functional. However when I looked them they were fully working. I emailed photos of the proof that the breaklights were all fully functional; the company never wrote back! The thief there at Cairns Motors also claimed that there was rust damage on the "4H rear lower guard" on my WOF checklist sheet. I took the car to 2 rust/panel beaters. Both independent panel beater companies said the rust that Cairns Motors saw, was non-present. It was a null issue and the area of the car in question was NOT needing any rust work. To add insult to injury here, the owner schmuck told me on email that he could not see my car to finalise the WOF (even if all the work was fixed!) for 3-4 weeks! Yes 3-4 weeks for a quick recheck/WOF sticker. I now have to pay another garage to re-WOF inspect my car after the work is done no thanks to these criminal 'cowboys' at Cairns Motors. I am filing a formal complaint with NZTA for them as untrustworthy WOF inspectors. Do NOT go to Cairns Motors for any work. Go somewhere else with a good rating here in NoCowboys."

"I didn't go to Cairns Motors in Kilbirnie looking for a coffee machine, nor was i there to sniff the chairs in the waiting cublicle there,

After my rear brakes gave off an unhealthy squeal coming down the hill from the Happy Valley landfill i was there to have them replaced, Shock Horror!!! the mechanics were'nt all wearing a uniform, there was no coffee machine nor any attempt at 'glamming up' the workshop...what i got was an excellent break job for a really good price which allowed me the luxury of a change of oil and filter,(plus they give all my other fluids a check),

Dropped off at home for the day i got to potter in the garden and the vehicle was delivered back to me making a well priced Hassle Free brake and oil change a relaxing experience for what was an extremely good price,

I will be getting all my mechanical repairs at Cairns Motors in Kilbirnie from now on....100%...

I was greeted well, everything that was done was explained to me and all the costs broken down on the invoice. I have full confidence in the people at Cairns. A few members of my family go to Cairns. "Took my car to be serviced and the only reason I went for them because they gave the lowest price. Big mistake. Bought my car at 7:30am saying I can pickup at 5:00pm. Midday I got a text message that it will take until tomorrow morning. Picked up car around 11, noticed significant kilometers had moved on the odometer. Worse part was on my way home the car broke down -- engine totally dead. Had them get me and told the breakdown was a different fault. I smelled something fishy and took the car the following day to another mechanic, telling me it had something to do with the service cairns motors did and damaged other areas of the engine. Beware of these people. If your car is important to you, spend a few $$$ more and go to a reputable mechanic."

"I went there to get my car done as it wasn\'t going at all, they had my car for over 10 weeks, I lost earnings as I am a contractor. In the end they over charged me, they got me a $200 fine because of their incompetence wandering why my car was on the street when it should have been in the workshop , lost my spare key. When I went back for them to fix their mistakes on numerous occasions it still doesn\'t work 100%, it now cuts out while driving, leaks oil and transmission fluid and needs a wheel alignment as they drove my car into the curb when dropping it off asking if that was alright. I\'m angry, disappointed, there are a lot more words I would like to use but I am trying to stay civil. THANK YOU CAIRNS (****S)!!!

P.S if you want to be ripped off, stressed out, confused, lose faith in all mechanics then this is the place for you.

These really are a bunch of cowboys. After many times trying to get hold of them to complain about their service, I gave up. My car left their garage worse than when I took it in and cost me a small fortune. I will also be discuss them with the MTA
