"I engaged the services of this company to look at a few plumbing problems we were experiencing, the main one being two toilets which wouldn't flush properly. The first time, I was promised by the owner that someone would come out "early the next week" and no one ever did. Sometime later, I rang again and got a chap who turned out to be the plumber himself (Geoff), who was rather off-hand but said he was visiting our area the next day and would drop in. He didn't. When I rang back and… got another person on the Friday, who said there was no record of contact from me at all, and blamed the boss for poor paperwork, she apologised and organised Geoff to come around on the Monday. He did, but was sullen and I guessed he'd been ticked off for not turning up the previous Thursday. He spent a couple of hours mostly trying to get the toilets working, but couldn't make any progress, and didn't have any ideas or plan of action when he left. He was supposed to return a few days later with a toilet seat and some plugs, but never turned up. About a month later he left a message on my phone that he was in the area and could drop by on the day, but unfortunately, we were out of town that day. Then I received an invoice for the time spent (supposedly three hours) on a job that didn't fix the problem and wasn't finished. Tired by this time of the poor service, I sent an email to the boss, Rosanne, disputing the amount and discussing the black comedy of errors. She didn't reply, so a few weeks later I sent another email, expressing sadness that they seemed to think that common decency did not prevail in such a situation. Subsequently, I tried ringing her but when I did, it was always "sorry, she's out of the office, I'll get her to ring you later." Which of course, she never did. What a disappointing experience. Had they simply apologised and recognised that they could do better, I would have accepted that. And yes, I paid their bill, even though I dispute the amount, because ultimately it wasn't about that. It was about service and good will."
