"I had a similar, if not worse, experience to Hans review. In late October 2018, I engaged KPS roofing (he changed his company name to YJ Development Ltd in late July 2019) to fix a roof leak after a night of heavy storm on my commercial property. They did nothing to the roof except applying liquid membrane onto a section of the roof that was well away from the actual area of the leak (and to be fair also blocked the end of the adjacent trough with silicon gel but that did not stop the leak and… wasn’t even the main part of the leak). So the main leak continued after they had done their repair, but the director Andrew (Yogesh) Ram demanded the remaining 40% balance to be paid straight away. When told that the leak was still there, he was angry and hurled at me a barrage of profanity. He was very hesitant to return until I asked him to have a look many many times. He did offer to do exactly the same thing that DID NOT fix the leak. In our argument, Andrew yelled the worst sexist, racist and obscene words there are in the English language. By then I had lost all trust in his character and in his competence, and he shouted he would not return as he left the scene. The weather was still poor and I had to quickly find another roofer to fix the leak as the office underneath was not usable due to the electrical wiring being wet from the leak. The subsequent roofer, unlike Andrew, took the time to dismantle the ceiling panels and identified the leaking hole by pouring a bucket of water over the trough above the ceiling. He then proceeded to seal off the hole with a few thick layers of heavy material that you can tell would do the job a lot better then the liquid membrane that Andrew used. The hole was fixed and the leaking stopped.
My experience with Andrew had been agonizing, stressful and tormenting. I took him to the Disputes Tribunal to try to recover my deposit only to lose and had to pay the 40% balance (because he counter-claimed). But I lost on a technicality only. I did not have photos of the leak before and after the repair. This is the only thing I regret not doing. But because I had to quickly find another roofer as the bad weather was wrecking havoc, who would remember to make sure to take photographs of the leak before and after a normal repair job? Everyone who was affected by the leak knew the roof was still leaking into the office after the repair by KPS roofing. I had witness statement from the tenant of the affected office. And the independent roofing consultant that I used to assess KPS roofing’s work has commented that was one of the most atrocious workmanship and the worst rip-off he has ever seen. So Andrew was very very lucky to get away with this.
It turned out KPS roofing Ltd has changed its name 7 times in the past 10 years! (This info is readily available to the public) Andrew also likes to employ someone named Richard (Ritchie) Craven, who in 2017, was the subject of investigation on Fair Go where three different aggrieved customers from West Auckland made a complaint against him. Andrew also likes to use another builder as a witness in his work in Court trials. This builder, although has an LBP license, just had his company gone bankrupt owing over $110k to creditors in late 2018. (Again this info is readily available to the public, just search United Builders Ltd). It also turned out that Andrew is known to the police because he habitually threatens his customers that he would undo his work whenever they want to have a check and withhold payment. And at the time of writing this, I already know three other different KPS roofing customers who are either taking him to the Tribunal or were very doubtful whether he has done a proper job (because they all rang the same independent roofing consultant as I did). Andrew is a fraudster who operates with fellow fraudsters to rip off the unsuspecting public. If all these don’t make you alarmed and not use KPS roofing (now called YJ Development Ltd). I have the photos of the job he did readily available for you to have a look and assess."
"In March 2018 I contracted KPS Roofing to replace my steel roof They made a complete dogs breakfast of it , resulting in a roof that rattled and leaked in several places. During the process , damage was done to the ceilings because they left the roof open during a rain squall. Their “roofer” was incompetent and extremely rude, and worked only a couple of hours per day. The workmanship was so bad, that I had to contract another company to re-do a lot of the work. An independent… Accessor claimed it was one of the worst jobs he has ever seen.
The owner of the company “ Andrew” ( real name Yogesh Ram) was consequently taken to the disputes tribunal and ordered to pay compensation.
KPS Roofing , also known as KPS Buildings Ltd. , also uses the name KPS Roofing and Scaffolding claimed they were a member of the Licenced Building Practitioners, which they
are not, but use a LBP number that is not theirs .
Without any doubt the worst experience I have had with any company ever.
