He replied to my text message on the same day and we organised a time to visit the site. He arrived on time and he was very clear and patient to explain the best options to extend our driveway. He sent a quote a following day and after my approval to go ahead he schedule a date to undertake the job. He arrived the day we agreed at the time we agreed and he (together with another guy)… worked non-stop in getting the driveway done. 100%"Joe and his team finished our landscaping job last week and we are extremely happy with the end result. I found Joe on No Cowboys and phoned him as he was fairly local and had excellent reviews. In fact the reviews were so good a little bit of me wondered if they were real. I can now confirm they are, Joe and his team were excellent. Always on time, good communication, detailed written quote and great quality of work, and kind to small children and animals... we have quite a few of both so… it’s great that the team were polite and friendly.
The scope of the job was quite extensive. Rip out the existing 45sqm rotten deck and fence and gate, dig it down about half a metre into clay, replace a retaining wall, dig up a 12 metre long concrete path, lower it 10cm and repour it, build a new deck in vitex hardwood, complete with 7 metres of planters, also faced with vitex, build a vitex slat privacy screen, remove a number of unwanted plants, lay unreal grass in a 12sqm area, build a new fence and gate.
Unsurprisingly with digging down under concrete paths and decks at one stage it turned into a plumbing job as our waste water and sewerage pipes were rerouted and joe dealt well with those challenges.
All up it took about 3 weeks onsite and joe kindly worked around the delivery date of a spa pool, getting the lions share of the work done enabling the pool to be brought in and then coming back to finish the job once the pool was delivered. He also worked well with electricians running the wires for garden lights and spa power.
Lakeside Landsaping is also good value. We had a previous quote for the same scope of work that was $20k more than Joe’s initial estimate. And despite the additional drain laying costs our final costs came in slightly under the detailed estimate. How often does that happen on a job?

It was not particularly simple as the one tank needed to be installed next to a gas main and the other tank had to be located under a deck. We recently purchased a run down house in Remuera. I had a full landscape plan from a designer and Joe has followed this exactly. Just some of the many things Joe and his team (he often had another guy with him) did for us included: Site clearing, pavers, full prep for artificial lawn, driveway repair,… planting, fence repair and more. Joe even provided his advice for a couple of little things he believed would make the site/planting even better which was a great help.
COMMUNICATION:
After speaking with Joe for the first time, he quickly arranged a time view my site. His communication was outstanding right from the very first phone call. He is quick to come back with texts/emails/calls and after doing a massive internal and external house renovation, I can assure you that it's rare to find good communicators these days!!!

100%"Can fully recommend Joe and Lakeside Landscapes. We had used our neighbours paved driveway for 6 weeks for rock breaking, trucks and finally for installing a pool and the pavers were a real mess. Joe was awesome and went out of his way to come and work on the last Sat of the year Dec 23. They did an excellent job reinstating the curbstones and pavers and also rebuilt a concrete drain all in less than 8 hours!! Awesome work, lovely guys and very reasonable pricing. My builders Eagle and Franich… are very fussy and they recommended them and I was not dissappointed. About us
Lakeside Landscapes is an Auckland based company, owned and run by Joe Chapman. Joe and his team provide a complete landscaping service from conception to completion, transforming your outdoor space, to ensure your make the most of some great New Zealand weather.
After finishing school Joe carried out an apprenticeship and later, a City and Guilds qualification in Amenity Horticulture and Construction.
After starting and running a landscaping company in England for 5 years, he and his Kiwi wife made the move to New Zealand in 2014. Upon arrival in New Zealand, Joe worked as a Stonemason, to improve and perfect his skills using the different types of rock that New Zealand has to offer.
He then created Lakeside Landscapes and has steadily grown, creating some interesting projects throughout the Auckland area in both domestic properties and commercial areas.

Lakeside Landscapes pride themselves in being able to tackle any project outside the home. Our most commonly used skills are Fencing, decking, paving, driveways, paths, brick snd stone work, retaining walls, new lawns, both real grass and synthetic, concrete, drainage and planting.
