    "Dodgy mechanic.

I needed a wheel bearing replaced, they couldn't remove wheel bearing so removed the entire hub and charged me for a second hand one. They charged me $400 for the second hand hub despite my motex only charging them $250 for it. It's a large mark up just for having sourced it.

They charged $20 for grease. An entire container of grease is less than $20 and it takes a fraction of a container of grease to grease up 1 single wheel bearing...

A couple days after I laid a complaint with midas head office I found my tyre slashed in my driveway...DODGY!

    do not recommend these cowboys.

"I went to the Midas in te Aro and am really happy with the service! The mechanic who conducted a WoF on my car (I think his name is Tony) was so friendly and I felt I could really trust his advice about my car. He gave me extra information and even topped up my oil. Although I was told over the phone the WoF would cost $57.50 at the Newtown garage, te Aro Midas charges $69 (GST is $9 incl.). The WoF was done on the day I dropped off the car, and they open 7am, which is convenient. "

"Took my Pajero in to get a new Muffler to replace catilictic converter. This was done expertly. two weeks later, the muffler that was fitted needed to be removed as it was to loud. Turns out wrong muffler was fitted. Three weeks later second muffler had to replaced as ther baffles inside had collapsed. 3 months later same issues, they rechecked and said all good. Its just back from mechanics now, $2,600 to replace whole system. He found a cracked manifold due to another collaped baffles in muffler, cracks in weld joins at all the other two muffles and resonator. There is a very good reason they are much cheaper than other specialist muffler replacement shops. They use cheap Chinese parts. I recommend using someone else or risk much more money. Good comms, Did job on time when they said they would, rest was crap. This is an honest rating."

"I have nothing but praise for the boss Thinnus and the staff he has at Midas Newtown. I have been using him for my fleet of trade vehicles (vans especially) since he started with the business a few years and Thinnus and the boys always deliver at very reasonable rates and make sure we can have a loan vehicle if required. Highly recommended."

"Awesome service. We had got Petrol in our Mercedes Diesel ML by mistake. After taking the car to 2 different garages called Midas Adeliade Road and just the phone conversation invoked confidence. Car was done on time at a good price. I would thoroughly recommend them for their honesty, quality and on time delivery. "

"The team here are fantastic. After being round the block a few times with my car (Volvo) and being ripped off at times, I am relieved to have found a decent trustworthy business here whom I know I can trust. High quality work, reasonably priced and a friendly and helpful team."

"This is not a comment on the quality of their work but the quality of their service.
DO NOT GET YOUR WOF HERE!!!!
I took my van in and it was rejected for several reasons. They found 2 problems that dont actually exist but they also made me get a panelbeaters report for minor rust, the panelbeater didnt know why they bothered. They didnt offer to fix the other minor problems as you expect.
Then I found out why - they just took it to the testing station next door for them to check!!!
The guy was very cagey about everything but to add insult to injury I was charged $62.50 instead of the normal $50 - they had passed on the testing station charge and added a markup!
