About us
Around 25+yrs ago we were a small building company with David being the head tradesman and operator, we were approached by a company that had been importing skylights for many years. We took on the job of installing their skylights. We quickly discovered that we were spending most of our time repairing/maintaining all ready installed imported skylights of all brands. The main reason for this, is that the imported skylights are in our opinion are not suited to NZ's conditions - especially Wellington's harsh horizontal rain and high winds, not to mention coastal conditions.
We then tried sourcing around NZ and took on installation of NZ made skylights. However they still had their own other issues. This is when David then thought if this is the best NZ has to offer, we can do better. This is when we started to trade as Skylight Specialists "a division of ADS Building Services Ltd" and now this is all we do. We repair, manufacture and install Skylights throughout the greater Wellington Region with our own trade qualified team also having a Supply only service throughout NZ but excluding the Wellington Region.

What we do
Main services are:
Manufacture skylights and roof hatches to any size/shape/tint/colour/electric opening/rain sensors etc to suit your home - Our skylights are New Zealand Made for New Zealand conditions with glass rated to wind zones, external trim rated for coastal conditions if required and full Aluminium welded frames that will not rust, rot or weaken over time, with being welded this guarantees a watertight sealed unit. Currently on the market in NZ, competitors aluminium skylights are glued and screwed together (not welded) creating a weak point on the joins eventually allowing water to ingress. Along with other brands having an external trim of Zincalumne (not aluminium) which is spot welded in the corner joins which in time rust/corrode.

Repairs and maintenance to skylights and roof
Full installation service for skylights, hatches and re-roofing and the like. Re-roofing is only offered to clients requiring skylight works as this is all integrated into obtaining a top quality weather tight solution

Why are we different from others?
We are quite unique with having trade qualified Roofers, Builders and glaziers on our small team. Having this range of trades we can look after the complete project for you.
This also allows us to be LBP "Government approved licensed practitioners" in both BUILDING and ROOFING.
We do not contract out works to other companies to complete, so you know exactly who is completing the contract.
We also do not pay our team by the meter or job as this encourages the attitude of "get in - get it done-get out and get paid" which results in inferior workmanship.
We pay our team by the hour so they are to take their time to obtain a high quality result.
We are owner operated with often seeing David and Sue on site with the team
Other companies offer their teams as "LICENSED INSTALLERS": this generally means they are only licensed by the owner/operator or the like and not an outside entity. In some cases this only involves a quick one day course to be licensed within themselves.
Our small team consists of trade qualified builders, roofers and glaziers which comes under the umbrella of LBP "Government licensed building AND roofing practitioners".
