    "This place shouldn't be in business... 0% customer service and their products are SH!T. I arge all gate installation companies not to buy their products. After doing some research on these cowboys found out they were on the news for selling faulty product and no way of answering simple questions regarding service and return.     "Complete waste of time and effort from this company who operate from behind the Internet only, meaning, should something go wrong, which it did, the only way of contact is via email. When they couldn't, or wouldn't resolve issue, they block your IP address so you can't even get to their Web page or emails. Very unprofessional and complete lack of customer care.
    The driveway beams we ordered had a faulty battery or power issue, we moved unit and tried again (solar powered) then had major alignment issues. When contacting them was basically told as they didn't install them, it was on us, and said in a very unprofessional maner, then blocked. All we wanted was some advice.

    Leave these characters well alone and save your money for a better quality product with support.

    "The business has no address or contact except an online subimission form but if anything goes wrong or you query something they will just block you. They operate under FINE TRADE LIMITED so if you were unlucky enough to buy and have a problem better contact details and company owners can be found there. "

    "Do not buy from here they have no address no contact details except an online form and if you complain then they just block you and dont answer. they might be fine if nothing goes wrong but if any thing minor like a missing screw or instructions then you are on your own or they try make you buy more parts. they completely ignore consumers guarantees act. only bank transfer no name behind the company along with the one news and other articles written on this company just wait for it to appear on fair go."

    "Ive brought and installed the driveway alarm many years ago , no problems there still going strong with replacement recharge batteries last year .
    Have just brought and installed an gate opener where the purchase of exactly what i wanted was made easy by them after filling out an questionnaire they emailed .
    I needed my well kitted shed to install it to a light metal gate (which i expected) So had to do some welding to fit , wood gate would of been relatively easy .
    The product they supplied was exactly what i needed (except for the length of gate latch cable but my gate was a little longer by 200mm than recommended and I easily joined a bit more cable to make it reach )

    There was good very explanatory instructions emailed , theres a lot of detail which i read twice to make sure i didn’t F it up . Turtle had already pre programmed the 5 remotes i got with it , they made it clear where to connect the wires and where not . The gate with lock latch , manual button and remotes work great .

    Was surprised to read so many negative responses before writing this ?

    This would of been a project that many who call them selves DIYers with a few spanners and screwdrivers could well find very difficult and maybe that fact needed more recognition from them

    "I purchased a sliding gate opener through their website and all was well until we ordered extra remote controls.
    The courier company sent them to the wrong address and admitted fault but will only refund money to the seller ( Turtle Direct ).We had to fight them for the money to be told at the end we were difficult customers and didnt want to deal with us again.
    So of course one year later the pcb board burnt out on the gate opener and they won't sell me a new one as im a difficult customer and my account is suspended.

    Its been a disappointing experience dealing with this company and their rubbish product that didnt even last one year of service that they wont supply parts for.

    I have since purchased new pcb off alibaba and fixed it myself.

    "I don’t know about all these negative comments on here, iv bought upwards of 20 of these openers and not had an issue with any of them. Products always arrive within days or order and normally they give extra remotes or other hardware. If you have queries they are answered promptly with the best option, it’s good getting the manuals emailed to you as you always have access to them if you ever need to go back and add additional remotes/ keypad etc. "

    "They are the WORST business I ever dealt with.
    I ordered a 12V motor but they sent me a motor with BATTERY pre-settings. They didn't even send me the manual but emailed me to save their printings. I had to print out their extremely complicated and thick manual and read through.
    Since their product is claimed as DIY I did not expect it has to be done by an electrician. However, when it's connected to their pre-set wire, the whole motor smoked.
    I then sent the motor back asking them what's wrong. Their responses mentioned NOTHING about how I should have connected, but full of defensive blaming and finger pointing with LOT OF exclamation marks! They could be bothered writing all of that long emails to me full of their emotion garbage but they refused to give me an answer regardless two emails sent to them asking for it.

    They also sent me a bill to pay for their time spent for all these and two courier costs. To make sure they will get the mony, they said that they will NOT give the motor back until I paid the bill. They also said that my warranty is void because of my fault.

    I had to pay the bill to get it back and I also booked an electrician to sort it out.

    At the end, they sent me another email saying that they will no longer support me.

    They do NOT deserve a business. I will take them to the small claim tribunal to let them know that it is NOT ok to treat customers like this in New Zealand!

    "Well purchased gate alarm and it had a faulty screw on the bracket, asked if we could send the plate back to have replaced, we couldnt send it back as new as we dont have the box for it anymore, here's the copy of email response

    As mentioned before, this is the first time we got a request to replace a mounting bracket in almost 10 years - we sold many of them.
    This is actually not a warranty case but we would have fixed it for no charge. Even if it was a warranty case you would have to return the faulty item for repair at your cost.

    You can return the item to us if it is in like new condition and we will refund you (less shipping costs). We will not refund if the item is damaged (apart from screw and mounting plate)

    Our offer to refund is valid until the 25th of this month.

    "So helpful! I damaged my gate :( and emailed for advice. Was quoted $3k from another company to replace the motor, but after lengthy and detailed email with Turtle team- the repair cost me $20.
    Managed to decipher my lack of knowledge and guided me with photos and emails to work out the actual issue and then solved it. Could have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge but they were kind, professional and 100% easy to deal with.

    "This company does not deserve business. We purchased a complete set of gate openers for two gates and right from the very start we had a disagreement as he believed our electrician was an idiot and not capable to wire his system up. What a lot of nonsense. He was contacted on five further separate occasions to supply additional remote controllers (At our cost) and never once had the decency to reply. We recently had a motor fail (After 6 years) and he has flatly refused to help us out. His reply was that he wouldn't deal with us because he had an argument with myself and we were told to bugger off!! As far as I am concerned, at no point did I have an argument with him, it was his very belligerent attitude over the electrician issue. If I ran my business in this manner, I wouldn't expect to ever have repeat customers."

    "what a sham of a company. my gate closer system I bought from these guys had issues. I emailed them with the problem, their answers didn't help me and they wanted me to buy 2 new batteries from them to replace the ones that were faulty !
    I explained it weasnt the batterys so they sent me a very rude email saying that's what I need to do , if I don't believe them to google it myself and that they would not be answering me anymore...
    I recommend to stay well clear of these people .

    "yes I believe this company TURTLE DIRECT needs to be investigated by the Commerce Commission and IRD? on the practises they using, they certainly trying to hide themselves and yet are based out of Nelson using a local Post Haste depot for pickup of items, the amount of customers our security company has dealt with because of him is shocking, we believe FINE TRADE LTD is their actual registered company based in Christchurch, but Susanne Riesen (Shareholder) looks to be their Actual/Physical address based in Nelson, or In regards to trademe sales, if you get no refund, or luck, T.M will provide you their actual details if you advise you "intend" to do a Dispute Tribunal case?"

    "I wish that we had been able to see reviews such as these - we never would have dealt with Turtle Direct. The goods have been faulty from the get go , service very poor. This has been going on for over 6 months and we still have no resolution. There is a reason this company doesn't provide a phone number or physical address - they dont care to deal with unhappy customers. Find a reputable company that provides proper customer service ."

    "A refund was actioned and product was returned. Communication could be more professional but overall happy with the outcome. Turtle Direct operates from Nelson and is an online only store. They are part of Fine Trade Limited. They provide automatic gate openers nationwide."

    "Business sells online only both via Trademe and their own website - turtledirect.co.nz. Operator refuses to publish both their name, address of business and any phone detail. His T & C and privacy policy read well but they communicate via email only. When things go wrong he is slow to provide a return address even though he states no issue return to base service. A PO Box is displayed but you cannot courier large items to PO Box. As trader is slow to respond to communications he gets abusive and makes demands outside what is considered Fair Trade. Due to the way they operate it is almost impossible to find valid reviews and testimonials due to not having a phone number or street address. In our case he shipped product that was missing parts and then refused to acknowledge a component was dispatched in faulty condition. It took weeks to get a 'courier depot' return option and even then his emails are unprofessional. We only wish we had been able to access information from other customers via a platform such as this before choosing to do business with this so called gate opener advisor and seller. Furthermore Turtle Direct refused to access the faulty ram we couriered to the address he eventually provided. He now says he never reccommended their product for our situation (we have an email trail that shows otherwise) and displays upset at having been added to this platform. We will be proceeding with a complaint via legal process with this so called trader."
