    "Used these guys for a few jobs 18 months ago. One job they wired a Portacom into main building and got wires back to front - inspector got an electric shock. Queried one invoice because hourly rates increased by 50% without warning and there was a $10 'admin fee' on every invoice. Disputed next invoice because minimum callout time went from 1/2 hour to 1 hour, again without warning, and I live locally to their base (so no travel time actually required). Bumped in to Steve in a lift in a building he was working on a couple of days ago. I said 'hi Steve, how are you?' He replied 'Go f*** yourself!'. So if you want competent work, reasonable rates, transparent billing, and professional service, don't use these guys."

    "Have just completed a fairly big renovate on the North Shore. Used Mr Sparks to do all the electrical work. The workmanship was good but the billing was horrific. What should have cost $30k (as advised by a couple of other electricians since the project was finished) has ended up costing $47k. His markup on product was excessive, 400% on some components. He charged out the second year apprentice at $60 per hour plus gst and he was very very slow at everything he did. The problem was that they cut a lot of wires where the additions/alterations were going so it was not that practical to change electricians mid stream. After the first progress bill I should have bitten the bullet and got a new electrician on site. Safe to say I won't be using Mr Sparks ever again and neither are a number of mates that have seen my finished job and are wanting to know who I used. The actual head sparky was absolutely fantastic, it is purely the excessive billing that has me really annoyed. When I challenged the business owner he deducted a couple of hundred dollars off the last bill for stuff that was found in their van that wasn't used, rather insulting but too late for me to take other actions."

    "Got a few jobs done around the home, biggest one was replacing the shaver outlet in the bathroom with a regular double outlet which required them to run a new power cable up through the roof space, replacing a light switch and two light fittings in different rooms. Guys turned up in very good time. Listened to what needed done and took time to show me what they had done when finished. Did a little extra check on a power outlet for me that I was a bit worried about and generally were very pleasant to deal with. Only negatives were I found little bits of mess around where they had worked but nothing major and there had been a slight miscommunication via email about a light fitting they brought along with them that wasn't needed as I already had one. All in all quite happy with their service and would use again."

    "Very disappointed.

    We have a rental property where some lights falling off the ceiling along with other odd bits needed fixing. Mr Sparks gave us a quote, which they charged $100+ for. We believed they knew what they were doing so we accepted the quote. Once the job was done, they wanted us to pay the full amount as per quote. And said the quote would be treated as an invoice. We then asked the tenants what had been done. First of all they didn't touch dimmers they put in the quote. They got back to us a week later crossed that out. Then we found out they replace four globes at $31.30+GST. We thought they replaced the whole lamp, but that was not the case. Only bulbs, which we used to get from the supermarket for under $3 special or $4.10 normal. They said their bulbs were much better. For that price, I would expect good quality LED bulbs. However the bulbs they provided were not even energy efficient bulbs. Anyway, I won't use them again. And I will not recommend them at all."

    "Update - my new electrician confirms that this work was not done to current code requirements and so actually to a very low standard and probably not by a registered electrician. Scary stuff indeed. AVOID.

    Mr Sparks were recommended to me and I had used them on a small job previously. The work done was to a very good standard, but let down by a $75 charge out rate including for travel times and marking up consumables - bulbs etc by 200%. As a result we have had to find a new Electrician for the rest of our work."
