"DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!!!!!! A 14 week job is now a 14 month job ... and still many things to fix, not repairs but their shoddy workmanship. We went through 6, maybe 7 Project Managers who have been non communicative, frugal with the truth and bare faced lied. They have made changes to the contract without permission then tried to charge me for thousands of dollars for variations like cutting hole in the floor because they decided not to lift the house. I WAS BULLIED & THREATENED by them. Our little wh?nau were split up and transient for 6 months living on floors, couches and random beds after the insurance money ran out. We were left in DEBT after being told to get another rental and they would sort it out ...AND THEY DIDIN"T. We have been home 17 weeks now and my 12 year old still sleeps on the couch because the floor in his room was 'fixed' with shingle and plaster blob in a random spot on the floor. Carpet shrunk because they left the door open. The interior unit of the HEATPUMP was left out in the rain during the floods earlier this year. The insulation wasn't reinstalled and there are blocks of wood holding up my house, temporary piles apparently, which they haven't taken out yet. Swore black and blue the levels in the house were within tolerance and they weren't. And that is only a slice of the Buildtech Heaven we have been living. Gutted that our legal case has only enabled them to tighten up their contracts which will support their legal issues in the future. I had a great lawyer but it didn't get me far. MY RECOMMENDATION, there are plenty of other homeowners who have had relatively smooth repairs given the circumstances. ASK AROUND, and if you ask me, DON'T USE BUILDTECH!!!!! The stress and the mess is not worth it."

"I was offered work as a painting contractor for Buildtech by John Mulholland, as I had painted one of his building s before. He offered me a better hourly rate than what I was getting, so I left the job I was in to go and do paint remediation (repair previous Buildtech painters botch-ups). It took me three weeks to fulfill their requirements (become GST registered, become a registered company and get public liability insurance), give notice at existing workplace and find a couple of employees. I arrived at Buildtech and they said oh sorry there's no work. Its all been done. I complained and said hey etc and so John Mulholland got us to paint his studio at his home address. We did this for a couple of days then was given one remediation job (about 4 hours work out of town). At the same time I was offered a house to paint by another Buildtech supervisor. I asked the supervisor to email/give me a copy of the scope repeatedly which he did not do. This went on for about a week till I went and saw the job. Even then, at the house, the guy wouldn't give me the scope saying he had to make a few adjustments to it. The next morning he called me into his office and he handed me a fixed price contract of a measly $5,300 to take all wallpaper off and rewallpaper and paint 6 rooms, and to remove stipple from 2 ceilings (maybe not checked for asbestos?) in very dirty house. Because I had had so little inclome since I left my previous job, and had just hired 2 employees for the job, I said give me the scope, and then said a very disgruntled yes. I wanted to pay me employees a decent rate and the numbers just weren't adding up. I then got advice from another contractor who said get out now before you lose too much money so I did. I walked off the job after 3 days work, losing $1000 in wages to my employees. 6 months later (after I had recovered) I invoiced John Mulholland for the work done at his studio and never got the money nor heard back from him, amounting to another $1400 unpaid work lost to Buildtech. I should have run a mile when I saw their supercilious smug smiles on their faces."

"Buildtech was the contractor on the job through EQR. It was a total disaster. Work commenced in Nov 2011 but sign off was signed in March 2012 as a result of substandard work and the work having to be redone a number of times. Now it\'s April 2013 and EQC inspectors have been at the property and they identified that some of the work which Buildtech did were defective and that they should be redone at their cost. They urged us to lodge a complaint through EQR which we are taking the steps to do so."

"We were really pleased with the repairs to our house undertaken by BuildTech. They, and all the contractors they worked with, were skilled, friendly and polite. I\'d have no hesitation working with them again, or recommending them. "

"We were pleasantly surprised by the care and good work done. Both the boys were helpful and determined to do a good job. Both made sure we were happy with the work and explained the process from the start of the job until finish. I would certainly recommend Buildtech to any other clients and friends."
