"I would not recommend this company. I called them to fix my heat pump which was not working. Communication was poor in terms of explaining what the problem was and options I should consider. Was advised that they needed to order a part but upon getting an indicative price for the part and realizing it would cost me more than a brand a new heatpump I decided not to proceed with the job. I was charged $680 for labour and service call which seems excessive for not fixing anything when I compare it to paying EnergySmart $740 for a brand new heat pump with the cost including installation and an additional 7 metres of piping. Unlike Citywide EnergySmart were good communicators, explained things properly and even advised me that I was eligble for the warmer kiwi homes grant."

"Don't recommend. I personally had a bad experience with this company.
I called them for a service/fault job which they were unable to fix. No problem, I guess you can't fix everything. However, the next I heard from them was through a debt collection agency. Citywide had recorded my email incorrectly and was sending the invoice to an incorrect email. When they didn't hear back from me I was stung with a $50 collection fee on top of the original invoiced amount. Obviously some random was receiving the emails. I phoned Mark (owner at Citywide) and tried to reason with him, I offered to pay the full service fee minus the debt collectors fee. He was rude and dismissive. He said that it wasn't his fault as his email system wasn't showing the emails bouncing back. Citywide chose not to phone me and now I'm out of pocket an extra $50.

"Required a full wiring job for an extension, Citywide gave us the best quote. Work was underatken by Daniel and Shawn. The boys did a fantastic job, always consulted us before they did anything outside of plan and always obliged us when we requested changes or additions. Would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Charged us $208 exc gst for a RCD plug, that is available online for between $90 and $110 and charged over $100 for wiring when the job entailed putting in two lights and a power point in an ordinary sized bedroom!!

When queried on this was told it was like going to a restaurant and having a $10 bottle of wine and paying $50 for it, that they have to make a profit on parts to pay their overheads.

Personally I\'d never pay $50 for a $10 bottle of wine in a restaurant and so I would avoid using these people in future.

    It\'s a massive rip off.

"Avoid Citywide Electrical & Security Ltd - Plimmerton

    My experience:

6 Novemver 2011 Citywide installed Power Panda hot water timer

After two months my power bills showed no decrease in electrical use comparing year ago to current bills. and with no changes to our electrical use. Called Power Panda in January, but wasn’t able to figure out what was wrong.

Had new hot water heater installed Feb 15th.
Found out there was no power when in “ON” position (not auto)

Called Andrew at Power Panda - He helped me diagnose that unit was mis-wired by Citywide.

Called Citywide on 16 February 2012 and told them of the problem. They said that the would be out “the next day.” They didn’t show.

I called Citywide at 5:30pm on 17 Feburary 2012 and asked why they didn’t show. I said that they “screwed up” the job and that I was upset that they hadn’t showed up to correct the mis-wiring as they had promised. Person got irate about my use of the term “screwed up” and repeatedly threatened to hang up and also denied that he said next day and instead claimed he said in the ”next few days”, contrary to the notes I took during the initial call. Refused to come out sooner and was extremely rude and aggressive. Said he would be out on Monday 20 February or maybe Sunday.

After mulling it over for a time, I decided to hire another electrician to correct the wiring. I called and cancelled Citywide. It was my feeling that they were just as likely to mess it up a second time as to correct the problem. Avoid this business. Incompetent work and incompetent communications. I fear that this company, through its lack of attention, failure to check its work properly and inability to communicate effectively, is going to someday harm someone’s life and or property.
