"I went to Centreway motors to get a WOF for first time. I was told that I needed 2 front tyres and my hand brake needed adjustment. Andrew (owner) told me to come back the next day and drop off the car in the morning to be kept there for the day. I brought my car at 11am and I had replaced the front wheels already, as I got a good deal at a petrol station. He appeared not happy with that, and looked as if not keen on taking my car, he said it was too late, and to come back another day, so I said I could leave it then and come back the next morning, he looked displeased. Reluctantly he took the car, next day when I picked it up a $400 bill was awaiting for me! It wouldn't have bother me so much if the service had been up to standards, Andrew should leave the other employees to do the talking as he got no costumer service skills. I'm not going back there for sure!"

"This is an update after my first comments made in Sept 09. It is now October 2010 and i am in court for the 3 time with centerway motors in Orewa, over my car that i had fixed nearly a year ago, and if you have been into their workshop my car is the grey legnum sitting in the middle of their work shop. I paid for them to fix my car and it is sitting in their work shop with no transmission in it as they scammed me and made me out of pocket $1500 for car repairs also i had to buy a new car because my car is still unfixed which cost $7000, and a extra $1100 for car rentals over a long period of time while i waited for my car to be fixed. Centerway motors should not be in business and i am think very seriously about talking to fairgo about these people as Andrew and Shirley and Darryl all tried to intimidate me, they stole money from my car, and they labelled me a gang member which is discrimination in my view. These people are not nice and they even ask for deposits before even lifting your bonnet. Its a shame they are doing this to the repretation of other mechanics because their are some really honest mechanics and lucky i have found 1 out of many now. I am going to court on wednesday and i am going to confront them with other evidence to prove to the courts that they are scamming people. and if need be i am going to fairgo!!!"

"i have always used centreway i would never go back there and will go out of my way to discourage others from using them.
I took my car in abt 5 weeks ago as it was playing up,the young lad there told me i needed a new battery.i booked car in for fllwing monday and went to pick it up later that day...part still hadn,t come in....i overheard shirley(office woman) on phne to supplier asking for compensation ,she told thm that the garage had had to go to breakdown for my car(totally untrue), when i asked her re compensation she appeared cagey ...(i rec,d none)...after battery fitted car broke down again..i was charged for diagnostic machine on it and told now fixed.1 week later it broke down again and they said i needed another i had forked out over $900...after they put part in it broke down again....after 5 weeks of having my car in and out they have taken pout the new battery and the other part and refunded me about $500.....they charged me over$400 for labour that wasnt car is still broken and i am out of pocket by $500....the man darryl was very aggressive and intimidating. andrew was a smug and patronizing and shirley was threatening and very has caused me alot of stress and sleepless nights.i was told not to take my car back there. This garage shld not be able to get away with this....i also found their lack of communication with me very bad business practise.......beware we have choices and there are plenty of reputable, honest garages out there...steer clear of these cowboys who are only out to rip people off!!!!!!!

"My car developed a noisy valve lifter. The motor was removed and a new set of lifters alledgely fitted. After just a few months the noise returned with a vengeance. The car was next failed for a WOF because the ABS system was malfunctioning. After four days off the road the car was returned with a new ABS unit fitted and a new WOF. When asked what the problem was I was told that the unit was leaking and that they had some trouble resetting the computor. The ABS system has not worked since. The bulb in the warning light had been removed. The company does not seem interested in fixing the problem properly even though I have told them where the fault is and how to fix it. My advice to anyone reuiring honest tradesmen and a busseness that cares is "Steer clear of Centreway"!!"

"My car has been in their work shop for 6 weeks. Found Andrew to be very dishonest and arogant and smug. He has over charged us and has only created more work so he could charge us for it. I asked for job sheets for the work done but he kept on rufusing me them until the police were involved. My car broke down 2 times after we got it back, and even now its in their workshop sitting with no transmission in it. I have had 3 other expert opinions on the work that he has done for us and they have all said that he has ripped me off. He even went on to lie to the MTA and said that i had gang connections because i have a Ngapuhi sticker on the side of my window on the car. Sure i am maori but i am not dishonest and nor am i gang affiliated and never have been. I say to anyone whom hasnt dealt with the think before trusting them, please save yourself some money and unwarranted problems. Because it has become a big problem for me.

Grandmother of three, now car less.
