"My car's aircon didn't work so I took it to Taylor's. They said it's enough to re-fill the AC coolant and it will run again. And it did for about a month until the AC gas leaked out again. I took it to a different place and they commented that refilling without actually fixing the leak makes no sense, that I'd be coming back every few months. So yeah, Taylor's either don't know what they are doing. Or they knew but still opted for an easy couple hundred dollars AC refill that couldn't fix the problem long term.

It's not my first disappointment with them. Some time ago I needed to have a light bulb socket replaced - they said they'd have to remove the bumper, replace some cables and what not and quoted over $300. I bought the new socket in Repco and figured out how to replace it myself, it took me less than an hour including the Repco shopping.

So yeah, Taylor's never again. Either they are incompetent or unscrupulous. Cowboys, anyway.

"The guy behind the counter is rude! The owner is just as bad, literally money hungry and will take advantage of you. They couldn’t find the issue but charged me $600. When I went to pick it up the man at the counter said oh they’re just taking it for test drive even though I walked right past it sitting in the garage. Waited 40 minutes to be told that they basically still couldn’t find the issue after my 3rd visit. I’ve never had this happen before. Don’t waste your time or money "

"Terrible customer service by the very moody owner. He's got no reservations making customer wait for hours and hours without even telling you how long job will take. Couldnt fix the problem and ended up coming back over and over again. "

"Dealing with Mark has not been easy. Toyota Hilux had a check engine light on the dash. we left the Ute with him as he is a MTA approved. Mark said that he is a diagnostic specialists?.Mark said that he had fixed the problem with the bad sensor on the engine. So we paid the bill , thinking all fixed. The next day, check engine light on the dash on again?. So we went back to see him and ask what is going on the the ute?. The code was the same problem as before?. Mark said that this is a new problem with the new sensor. He then said that there will be a cost to replace it. I said to him why?. He said that it is a new job?. I then asked him about the new sensor on the invoice that he replaced?. Mark then got upset. Mark is arrogant and I will not be going back there again. Mark thinks that I will pay for a new sensor again and cost to fit the sensor."

"I would not recommend these cowboys to touch your car! I had just completed a total rebuild of a Triumph Spitfire including new interior. The boss put his apprentice on to wiring up a stereo and speakers! He totally trashed the interior fittings, glovebox and left wires dangling in the foot well (photos can be provided). The brand-new stereo didn’t fit and kept falling out, finally breaking. This is what the boss signed off on! As I said, utter cowboys, don’t trust their shoddy work!!

"Had Left hand headlight stopped working, followed by indicators.
Turned out to be perished wires from the small loom inside the headlight.
Paul on the counter kept telling me how 'lucky' I was that he had found a loom which would save me 1000$ on a new headlight.
What turned out to be as simple as changing the loom (plug connectors) was charged back to me at 571$.
According to their invoice: loom $214, sidelight bulbs (which I didn't ask for) $28, shipping $25 and 2.43 hrs labour @229 at $94.5/hr.

When I got home I priced up a loom for my make, model and year, and was max $138 with shipping. Same bulbs I found for $8 a pair.

And I just finished pulling my bumper on off tonight then head light off, only took 35mins.

So in summary, total cost and time should have been: $146NZD, and 1.5hrs at most. That's not taking into consideration they should be faster then me and have a partial trade discount on parts too.

I also found complete replacement headlights as a pair for less then $650nzd + $50 shipping.

So turns out this place is not only a complete massive rip off, but completely full of **** too.

(By the way commercial airline pilots struggle to make 94$/hr, and the young apprentice working my car would not have got all that money)

Think twice before going here at all. I would never.

"I was first recommended Taylor Auto Electrical by Advanced Ford and Holden Parts, and for good reason. I first gave them a call and Mark was really helpful discussing the issue I was having over the phone. I took the car in and they were able to have a look at it really quickly, diagnose the actual problem and called me within the day, before proceeding with the work. They completed the job and it came under the initial estimate. Really happy with the job done and would recommend them to others."

"Absolute rip off. Had a small diagnostic job done that took less than 2 minutes and charged close to $60.00. What was really annoying was the guy behind the counter smugly talking to one of the floor staff as I was leaving and you could tell he was having a laugh st my expense. If you look like you have a bit of money they appear to take advantage of you.
    Totally unprofessional.
    Never use again.

"I left my car at Taylor's to fix a coil that would supposedly cost $90 (as discussed on the phone with them).
When I got there to pick up the car the guy behind the counter goes "hey mate, your car needs petrol, the light is on, I drove it to Takanini" (test drive..New Lynn to Takanini and back?) Ok "no worries" I said.
Then he goes "that would be $504" so I asked how come? if they had quoted $90 on the phone.
This guy didn't give a s*it. Only answer was "The coil itself costs $130". Sure, you should have given me an accurate quote mate, $400 more is a bit too much. Not going back.

"My car failed a warrant on account of the lights not being aligned. I took my car in to Taylor electrical - they changed (and charged me for) the light bulbs without asking. They said the lights weren't able to be aligned and that one whole light would need replacing. I was quoted around $100 for the job. I went to get a second opinion and a mechanic was able to adjust the lights using a screw driver to align the lights - this job took five minutes. My car passed the warrant without a problem.

"My starter motor died, went and saw Mark and they rebuilt my starter.
After 24 hours it died again and I went back, highly ****ed.
They stripped it down again and there was no reason for this second failure.
Mark advised its probably better to get a new starter as this may happen again. I agreed he got in a new starter then we got to the payment time, I was expecting a huge bill................BUT, Mark said seen as how the first fix failed, he would only charge me for the difference between the repairs I had already had done and the cost price of the new starter!!! no labour, heck they even had to dispatch a driver to go pick it up......... I was rapped.

Great service - great people - and they remember their customers.

I send everyone I come across with auto electrical problems straight there and I wouldn\'t consider going anywhere else. Have been a loyal customer of theirs for the last 10 years.

"This firm did a small job under the dashboard of my partner's car to fix some indicator lights. This was done successfully but they handed the car over to her in a dangerous condition -- The turn indicators, unbeknownst to her, were not operating. She nearly had a crash because of this: the other car thought she was going straight ahead and she thought she'd indicated a right turn. When she returned the car to them they did not appear to take the complaint seriously, did not apologise, gave no indication of what they would do to prevent this happening again or whether anyone would be disciplined, and kept her waiting without any indication of how long she would need to wait. Dangerous, and poor service to boot. I would avoid using them at all costs."
