    "Never - NEVER use this company!!! what a scam waste of money disrespectful rude, and just will rort you of thousands of dollars, and no contact unless they want more money.They packed my stuff in aussie and on arrival had all these items taken and charged gst for i would have never done this would have been cheaper flying my stuff on a plane as extra luggage!! avoid these people at all costs!! i am taking the matter further once i have all my property, you wouldnt be able to complain first because ofherwise i dont think they would release your things!!! wost experienxe and cannot stress enough DO NOT USE THEM wish i has of checked reviews first!!! never again"

    Conroy were paid to pack down our house the day before the move but sent only 1 packer, who lied to us and then left after 5 minutes without a word. He told us the rest of his team were sick with covid.
    Conroy management told us the packer had refused the job due to 'health and safety concerns'. The house was safe. The job was impossible for 1 person in a day. He came from a job half an hour before (at 9:00am) and went straight to another job. It's obvious Conroy were trying to cover for staffing shortages by lying to and blaming customers to avoid their own liability for rescheduling.

    After we managed to somehow pack everything down ourselves in time for the move, they underestimated the volume of stuff by 30% (despite having an itemised list and a walkthrough). Leaving us without a fridge for 3 weeks over xmas while the Nelson team waited for another delivery going in our direction.

    The uplift team took great care to wrap furniture and load items for the first couple of hours but as soon as the end of the day was drawing near just started throwing boxes and items marked 'fragile' onto the pile of stuff, resulting in several breakages.

    Similar happened when the stuff was unloaded. The team are friendly and ask where to put boxes for the first hour or so and then decide "time's up" and dump everything in a pile in the middle of the first room.

    After the final delivery with the leftover items, I noticed that two 4k monitors that belong to my employer were missing from the delivery. It took over a week of phone calls and emails before Conroys staff finally accepted that they were missed and started looking. It was a month and a half after we moved before they finally showed up.

    We have asked multiple times to be refunded for the $1479 we paid upfront for Conroys to pack the contents of our house, which they did not do, but they completely ignore our requests.

    Full story:

    We paid Conroy over $7,000 for their full packing service and delivery between Wellington and Golden Bay.

    We reconfirmed prior to our move-out date that all was well and were told that their 'experienced team of professional packers' would handle everything.

    On the morning we were supposed to pack down the house, instead of a team we were met with a single older gentleman with a limp. We got to talking and he said he'd just come from a previous job, which for some reason only took 1 hour. I asked him if it was just him, or if the rest of the team were on the way, and he said that "everybody else was off 'faking' covid"! OK that's concerning, but maybe he's faster than he looks, I thought. He walked around the house and garage for about 5 minutes answering all of our questions with 'no worries' and then told us he had left his tape dispenser in his car.

    He walked to his car and just drove away without a word, never to return.

    About half an hour later, we got a call from Fiona Conroy who told us that he had 'refused the job due to health and safety concerns', and that they would not be doing any packing. Of course the house was a bit of a mess - we were in the middle of moving! Half of our stuff was in boxes and we had taken down and stacked artwork and decorations and moved furniture to give the packing team access.

    There was nothing unsafe about it.

    Packing down an entire 2 bedroom house and shed is clearly an impossible job for 1 person to do in a day.

    It's obvious that he had been instructed to show up just to refuse the job because Conroy didn't want to be liable for rescheduling due to staffing issues.

    I absolutely appreciate and understand the difficulty managing teams and schedules must be during a pandemic, but to lie to us, try to claim that it's our fault, and leave us high and dry on the day we HAD to move out is utterly shameful.

    We spoke to Fiona again, and told her to have her uplift team there the next day, as scheduled, we'd do the packing ourselves if it took all day and night. She said there's no way we'd get it done ourselves. She wasn't wrong there.

    Thankfully our incredibly kind friends and neighbors showed up and took time out from their busy lives to help us when they heard how we'd been let down by the Conroy's team. After a nightmarish 18 hour marathon of frantic packing we had everything ready to be uplifted, leaving me to sit alone amidst the piles of boxes crying with relief into a cold chicken sandwich.

    If that was the end of it that would be one thing. Despite having done a video walkthrough of our house and having an itemised list of its contents, Conroy underestimated the volume by a massive margin. This meant that they rushed towards the end of the day and threw fragile marked items roughly into the top of the truck in an unsecured pile.

    Because they underestimated the volume of items, our delivery ended up being split into two shipments. The first arrived within the quoted timeframe, but Conroy didn't prioritise finishing the job and waited until there was another shipment coming to our area before sending anything. This left us without a fridge for 3 weeks - living out of a chilly bin over christmas.

    When the second shipment finally arrived I noticed that the 2 computer monitors I use for work were missing. I marked them as missing on the delivery notice but had no follow up from Conroy staff.

    It took many emails and phone calls over two weeks before Conroy staff took me seriously and accepted that the items were missing. They eventually located them still in the Wellington warehouse for some reason, and finally delivered them a month and a half after we had moved in.

    We have made multiple requests for a refund of the $1479 we paid for Conroy to pack our belongings, which they did not do, but every request has been completely ignored.

    Do not trust this company. They are irresponsible, unprofessional, and will take your money and then lie to your face rather than accept responsibility for their issues.

    "Worst moving experience ever! Terrible attitude from the Wellington Branch Manager, requested a list of items to be wrapped which was confirmed until the move day where only 2 of the 12 items were wrapped due to miscommunication within.

    Damage to a number of items moved, including beds and mattresses that were dragged across dirty garage floors, dirty hand prints on fabric couches etc. a lamp that had the bulb and fitting pulled off and discarded leaving us with only the lamp stand and more.

    The communication was almost non existent and we had to call to find out when things were happening eg. what time are the movers coming etc.

    We submitted a complaint to all involved, a formal review and followed up a number of times and have just been ignored and no longer get replies to our email follow ups.

    The lack of response is not surprising, following the terrible service and treatment we received. Seeing all of the other negative reviews for this company I am surprised that they are still in business.

    I will never use Conroys again!

    "we use them to deliver a french marble chest of drawers from south Island to auckland after a lot of phone calls it took three weeks and when they came to deliver it the marble top was broken in three places we did not accept it and were very dissapointed
    about the damage the driver admitted it had not been carted properly and had broken on the trailer ,in the three weeks with phone calls they never informed us it was broken in transit and we realize thats why it took so long to deliver there was no care taken with our item obviously and we did not know about the damage untill delvery day when the driver informs us of the damage to the marble top. they were informed on pickup it was fragile and to handle and pack with care obviously no one cares and takes pride in their job no wonder they advertise so much on radio ,I found there customer service on the phone was hard to use and got cut off alot.

    so beware!!!! use them at your peril one of the most mickey mouse cartage firms I have ever come across .we were very dissapointed about the whole experience and were looking fwd to receiving our chest of french marble draws only to be told on delivery day at the house that it had sustained major damage to the marble top

    Conroy removals hold your head low a dissapointed user and will make sure I inform anyone I know of the experience .

    "Convoys are an absolute joke. MOVER BEWARE. We moved our stuff from Brisbane to NZ. I got an email nearly 3 weeks ago saying it had been custom cleared and another email 2.5 weeks ago saying my stuff was ready for delivery Wellington to Auckland. 2.5 weeks later and the person I have been dealing with could not even give me a truthful answer as to where my stuff was. After being transferred to 4 different people 2 of them being the rudest people I have had to deal with. I finally have found out that my stuff is still sitting down there in Wellington.

    There are plenty of other shipping companies doing great moves. For your own sanity stay away from this unprofessional bunch.

    "We purchased a restored, retro piece of furniture from Christchurch on Trade me and had Conroy deliver it to us in Auckland. It arrived to us seriously scratched, chipped, with a handle missing off of one of the drawers. After asking for assistance, we were sent a generic request to pay additional fees in order for them to settle the insurance claim. Paying further would have us paying Conroy 1.5x what the piece of furniture was worth. The damage done was an act of clear negligence on their part - either having the piece on its side of sliding around in the truck in transit - but after further inquiry, they stopped returning our emails and calls. It has now been almost 3 weeks since we filed our claim. What a mistake to trust this 'big company' with a little job. I would advise strongly against using their service and will never use them again or recommend their service."

    "At first, the initial consultant was great. Always keeping contact. (Commission based incentive?)
    After signing though, it went downhill.
    Instead of staying with the first person i was moved onto someone else who never even made contact with me. i had to initiate it. No [phone calls either. just unreliable emails.
    The delivery guys, well, one was okay. The other was getting quite flustered for some reason. I believe they tore one of the seals on the the stuff being packed into the truck. but I couldn't see it. I heard something though. I'll know once it arrives.

    that's the other bit.

    I was told 5 to six weeks initially. then 7 weeks by someone else in Sydney after everything was picked up.

    Now i've been told up to eight weeks!! And the items are in the destination country already for a week now. It's the 18th and it is going to take them three weeks to get it about five hours drive to me.

    Everything was planned around this move of 5 weeks. Max! Seven weeks. Which would be just before Christmas day. 23rd.

    Now nothing till into the new year of 2020. No presents till after Christmas.

    ALL communication has been by email. The ONLY time I EVER had a phone call was when trying to get me to commit to the agreement.

    After that, nothing. I've emailed the Australian contacts a few times. Including the move manager and state manager. I had no replies to my mails.

    just ****ed off now as no one seems give a damn.

    I'd never use them again. Nor recommend them. Not unless you can get them to sign a commitment with a delivery date for pay a penalty fee to you.

    "Wouldn’t trust these clowns to deliver a teapot 100 metres. The quote said delivery would be 3-7 days, 21 days later we got our two chairs. Total lack of communication. They forgot to collect our chairs from the sender when they said they would and only got going after my phone call and the date of delivery kept on changing etc etc. Never again"

    "The service was terrible. They arrived 1hr and a half late for pick up. They delivered my furniture marked, damaged by stickers and cellotape. There was a fair bit of broken China and I still have a chair missing. When you email and ring the management they don’t care. Please don’t use Conroy. I have moved several times and this is the first time there was so much damage. They do not care they just take your money and don’t look after your furniture. Terrible company."

    "We have used Conroy Removals Porirua 3 times now.
    Each time has been a very good experience with friendly polite people.
    We had a conformation call a few days before the move and a txt on the day letting us know they were on their way, brilliant.
    Highly recommend this company. I notice some of the comments above are not for Conroys Porirua, you really should make sure you have the right firm before giving negative feedback.

    "Apart from charging us the $250 excess for damaging our items. They send our a truck driver unqualified to be packing and he laughs about it to us whilst packing our items. We watched him roll our oven through the entire house rather than use the trolley or carry. Now they expect us to use this oven, I guess it’s not their family. They damaged our fridge, all our boxes were in such a state inside when we opened could tell have been thrown around. Broken glassware and stuff which I didn’t bother claiming for. Slow replies and rude. Have no regards for clients or their possessions, no interest in customer service. Was charged for unpacking yet they only unloaded we unpacked. Think they knew to drop and run. Which everyone else should do - run to another company. Treat your clients with respect and their possessions."

    "Terrible service!! The worst Customer Service! no reply to emails then providing a wrong info, completely unprofessional! At the end I had to pick up my parcel by myself from their depot!
    Was waiting 8 days for the delivery and always heard tomorrow. Had an email confirmation with the delivery date what was false! no email/ a phone call to me advice me about a new date. Nobody cares about your stuff there! Been asked to pay $75 for the quarantine, had to sent many emails and "beg " them to explain me why i had t pay this! No apology for the bad service, rude agents! I send so many parcels around the world but to be honest I never ever seen so rude and unprofessional customer Service! AVOID!!

    "Don't believe their estimates. Amount of goods to be freighted was consistent with estimate and then they increased the price by over 50%. Decided that they would only deliver part of my inventory. They hang up as soon as you question whether they are doing the right thing. Delays throughout the process, from inspection to quoting to responding to questions. I'd be reluctant to let them collect my rubbish let alone transport my possessions. "

    "These people run a scam.
    My cargo, worth over $200,000 has been held hostake. The company keeps asking for more and more money, ignoring the terms of the contract.
    50% of the shipment is damaged as it was not properly packed. I was told the goods would be insured, but they were never insured even though I was invoiced for them.
    Despite paying them over $4040, and then additional $998 already, under assurances that each time they woudl deliver if I paid the demanded amount, they keep asking for more, and refuse to release shipment.

    The matter is before disputes tribunal. A police case has also been filed.

    "We had Conroys move contents from a house in Greyotwn and from a house in Havelock North to our apartment in Auckland. We found it very difficult to organise this move as Conroys did not have a single person managing the job and expected us to pull it together ourselves.

    Delivery in Auckland was incredibly frustrating as we had agreed that 6 people would be needed (we had pre paid for this) and 2 showed up. After some desperate phone calls and 2 turned up to help. We also had various other frustrations, but none as bad as finding MANY items that had been stored by Conroys completely destroyed!

    We have pre paid $8,000 to Conroys and have no leverage at the end of the project. I have shared my frustrations with David Conroy (owner) and he des patched a guy to meet with us who was great. He listened to our account of the move and agreed that it was very poorly managed. He also photographed many of the damaged or destroyed items and said David would be back in touch.

    A month on we have not heard from David and have received nothing to cover their damage.

    I would not recommend using Conroys if your move is complex in any way, or if you are going to be terribly disappointed if anything gets damaged.

    "Just moved from Wellington to Auckland and Conroy made the move relatively easy. Both move days were horrendous weatherwise and the guys did a great job regardless. We needed a smaller truck to get down a steep drive and this was sorted on the day for a fair additional fee. Thanks."

    "I was extremely impressed by the two guys that helped me move on Friday the 1st of Feb. The whole thing went off without a hitch, there were no breakages and nothing was dropped or scratched. The guys were very polite and got everything done in super quick time; I am incredibly pleased with how everything went. The next time I move, I will definitely be employing their services again."

    " we experienced huge delays, no costumer care once the contract was signed, many hidden extra fees, and poor English partner as well. Al in all, prices then get higher than other companies that deliver on time and with no extra fees. We moved more than a month before friends who got their stuff 5 weeks before us. And they were still asking for some money then!!! DO NOT USE them unless you like being fooled, sounded to us just like dealing with the worst car dealer ever"

    "They couldn\'t even book in my job properly. Goods were to be picked up on the Thursday, which I thought was confirmed after I did all of the chasing up. I was then rung on Thursday only to be told pickup had to be Friday. The premises had to be completely vacated before then. If you want removalists who do the job properly use AA Removalists. "

    "We hired Conroy to move from Christchurch up to the lower part of the North Island. Everything was fine from the Christchurch end apart from the truck being already half full from a previous job meaning our goods were split in two which possibly led to the problems we had further down the track. The other end however was a disaster. They turned up late, couldn\'t get up our driveway because they bought a very poor quality truck. They got it stuck and we had to have our new neighbour (2k away) pull him out with tractor. Before this was achieved however we had to move our goods into our house and I really do mean WE. The 2 men were unfit for work moving from where they had the truck stuck to the house 100m up a moderate hill. One sounded like he would have a heart attack at any moment the other with a bandaged leg. They had no sackbarrow to move goods and we had to use our own and then for the next 2 hours myself and my 7 month pregnant wife had to help move our own goods up. So we basically paid around $4500 for ourselves to do the work! A lot of our stuff was damaged and also stuff was missing. We also had other people\'s stuff which we had to keep saying this is not ours as they kept leaving it with us. We had a man several weeks later come to inspect the damage. He said it was really, really bad the job they did and especially that we ended up moving a lot of the stuff ourselves and said we would receive a call from the person above him but we never ever did and our missing items were never found. It was extremely, extremely stressful. We have since moved again and we used Crown and they were marvelous would thoroughly recommend them over Conroy."

    "Don't use them!!!
    I had my move all ready and booked, Conroy Removals (Christchurch branch) happily took my money and promised me great service. I had, in writing, an agreed time and date for my stuff to get picked up. I stupidly thought I could trust them.
    No-one showed on the agreed date/time. I rang to check if maybe they were running a little late. To my surprise, they informed me that they never even had a truck coming to my area for another week.
    They only gave me my money back after I insisted on it.

    They left me completely stranded just a few days before my move. I have still not had any form of apology from them. The only help they offered was suggesting another moving company - I shouldn't have been surprised when the number they gave was one that had been disconnected!

    Overall, hopeless service, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
